curriculum

You are not having fun unless you are learning.  Before you hit your escape button, think about it.  Choose your favorite activity.  We bet that it involves learning, and without that you wouldn’t like it.  Video games:  as soon as you can zip through all the levels, it isn’t fun anymore.  Listening to music:  part of the joy is discovering new bands and new sounds.  Athletics:  no challenge, no fun.  Unless we are growing, expanding, and learning…we are bored.  Since we don’t want anyone to be bored during their time in RMC, we put high priority on learning.

Proverbs 23:23 says, “Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also (get) wisdom and instruction and understanding.”  Education is a top priority at RMC; God designed us with a great capacity to learn and we want to live up to our potential.

1st Year Curriculum

Across time, everyone who has qualified themselves to be called a true disciple, has shared these characteristics:

A Disciple…
 1. Lives a Life of Purpose.
 2. Has a Renewed Mind.
 3. Lives a Spirit-Led life.
 4. Is Kingdom-Minded.
 5. Stands on Truth.

The focus of academic study for first year students is the relevant application of biblical truth to everyday life.  By digging deeply into the Word of God and engaging in a thought-provoking survey of some great Christian literature by C.S. Lewis, Jerry Bridges, Rob Bell, Brother Lawrence, Myles Monroe, and others, we will explore the five characteristics of a disciple and work them into our own lives.
2nd Year Curriculum
We also partner with Global University in the area of academics. RMC is the largest Berean/Global University Study Center.  At our very core, we are relational.  Why not take this into account in education?  Learning from and with one another capitalizes on the synergy of relationship.  At RMC, we believe in the benefits of life-on-life education in and out of the classroom.  The quality materials provided by Berean, coupled with engaging teaching and interaction form a solid educational foundation for every student. While first-year students follow our custom-designed curriculum, second year students complete the Berean Certified Ministers Package.  For a course listing and description, check out www.thenewberean.com.
3rd Year Curriculum
Third year students continue to benefit from our Study Center style of teaching.  They complete the Berean Licensed Minister’s Package, as well as go through the application, interview and testing to become certified ministers.  They graduate the program as Reverends, ready for a ministry position.
Scripture Study
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  John 1:1.   Have you ever walked in halfway thorough an important story or a joke?  You say, “Go back to the beginning!”  Why?  In order to understand the story, you have to know the beginning.  The same thing is true about God.  In order to know Him, you must know His Word.  Every week each student chooses to study a topic or a passage in depth, looking into context, original language, cross-references and life application.
Life Lessons
Life is a great teacher.  It has been said, “The years will teach you what the days will never know.”  Life Lessons is a weekly opportunity for our staff to download wisdom gained from experience.  We explore topics ranging from finances to ministry ethics to marriage.
Experiential
Experience sets RMC apart. The difference between knowing about prayer and praying is like the difference between seeing the picture of a chair and sitting in that chair. At RMC you will have opportunity to learn, apply and experience the reality of that knowledge in real situations.  Through the huge variety of ministry opportunities available, you will be challenged to give away what you have received. From intense discipleship to hands-on training in many different fields, we have set in place a firm foundation for any individual to build a life upon. We believe that it is not about what you know. It is about what you live.
Tracks
You will be given the opportunity to have hands-on experience in up to three areas of interest.  These training tracks will allow you to focus on your gifts or explore something new for an extended period of time, enabling you to really give and receive all you can.
